Working with Shep and Chris on the character development for Sonesta St. Maarten’s Beach House Club, a children’s program, was one of those rare, soul-fueled collaborations that reminded me why we do what we do. What began as a spark of imagination before the hurricane evolved into something even more meaningful—shaped by the island’s incredible resilience after Irma. From Penelope Pelican to Maarten Roots and Iggy Iguana, each character became a love letter to the local culture, created with heart, intent, purpose, and a whole lot of joy. And once the resorts reopened, watching little guests—and their parents—light up as they connected with these characters and discovered St. Maarten through play… that moment sealed the deal.
